You still have to pay wages and food while you wait, and even though its faster, its still extremely slow.Siege defence tips. Otherwise you have to not overkill them which is easy to do since they have no armor. Blunt weapons work. You can also attack enemy parties that have looters as prisoners, then recruit them right into your army after beating them, skipping the waiting for your prisoners to want to be recruited part.
